Biography
Dr. MaryRose Kaplan holds a Ph.D. in Counseling from Montclair State University, is a licensed mental health counselor, and a certified school counselor. Currently, Dr. Kaplan serves as an adjunct instructor for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ’s Online Master’s in Clinical Counseling program. Committed to fostering empathy, ethical practice, and cultural competency, Dr. Kaplan offers individualized, constructive feedback tailored to trainees’ skill development and professional growth.
Focused on developing relational and systemic health, Dr. Kaplan has presented at both national and state conferences on creative strategies to broach race, ethnicity, cultural identity, power dynamics, and positionality in counselor training, supervision, and practice. At the community/school level, she has presented to families, educators, colleagues, and district leadership on topics ranging from child/adolescent development and mental health, to developing and evaluating effective comprehensive school counseling services.
As a researcher, Dr. Kaplan is interested in investigating strategies that cultivate White racial identity/consciousness development, social justice discourse, and counselor advocacy at the relational, community/school, and public/legislative levels. She remains an active member of several national and regional/state counseling organizations including the American Counseling Association, the American School Counselor Association, and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. To recharge, she enjoys sunshine, reading, and cooking.
